red velvet cake.


 A popular american cake with a rich buttermilk-flavored chocolate songe, it is colored deep  red by  edible food coloring and topped of with a traditional vanilla cream cheese frosting.

ingredients:
  • 225 g of unsalted butter 
  • 4 tablespoon of  water
  • 55 g of cocoa powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 250 ml buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract 
  • 2 tablespoon of red edible food coloring 
  • 280 g of plain flour
  • 55 g of cornflour  
  • 1 table spoon of baking powder
  • 280 g of caster sugar

for the frosting you will need :
  • 250 g of cream cheese
  • 40 g of unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoon of caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  1. how to make it :preheat the oven to 190C or 375F. grease two 23-cm or 9 inch pans and line with baking paper. 
      2. place the butter, water and cocoa powder in a small saucepan and heat gently, without boiling,             stir until melted and smooth. remove from the heat and then leave it to cool completed. 



3. beat together eggs, buttermilk, vanilla and food coloring in a bowl and beat it until frothy. sift in         flour cornflour and baking powder and stir quickly and then ad the sugar.



4. poor the mixture in the pans and bake in the oven for 20-30 mins. once done baking leave it to cool     outside for 5-10 mins. then remove them from the pan and leave them to cool completely on the         cooling rack.


5. to make the frosting mix together all the ingredients until smooth use about half of the frosting to       sandwich the cake together and use the rest to decorate.
