Greek gods and goddesses 


The Olympian Gods and Goddesses. In Greek mythology, twelve gods and goddesses ruled the universe from atop Greece's Mount Olympus. These Olympians had come to power after their leader, Zeus, overthrew his father, Kronos, leader of the Titans. All the Olympians are related to one another.

Some of the Greek gods are:

Antheia - Goddess of gardens, flowers, swamps, and marshes.

Bia - The goddess of force.

Athena - (a.k.a. Asana, Athene, Minerva, Minerva) Goddess of wisdom, poetry, art, and the strategic side of war.

Cronus - (a.k.a. Cronos, Kronos, Saturn) God of agriculture, father of the Titans.

Doris - A Sea Nymph, mother of the Nereids

Iris - Goddess of rainbows.

Victoria - (a.k.a. Nike, Nice) Goddess of victory

Rhea - (a.k.a. Cybele) Goddess of nature.


Some facts about the gods

Zeus was the father of the famous Greek hero Hercules.

Poseidon was allotted his dominion after the fall of the Titans.

Artemis was daughter of Zeus and Leto and twin sister of Apollo.

Although Hestia appeared in a few stories, she was not overly significant in Greek mythology.

During the Trojan War, Aphrodite fought on the side of Paris.
